I can't help but free-associate MJ with other elements of pop culture. There are certain stories and songs that are evocative to me.
So as another diversion, here are some things I hope you enjoy or find thought-provoking. Some are fun and some are more contemplative.
To start off, here's a short clip from a version of Peter Pan from 1990/91. In this episode Peter Pan finds himself on trial. Does Hook remind you of anyone in this clip ?

Next we have a couple of MJ's songs as a backdrop to clips of a different cartoon called One Piece.
The first video is a tribute to a character which was designed based on MJ (appearance not personality):

The next video is a storyline much later in the series which appears to be inspired by Thriller (it has a horror theme):

Now I don't think MJ's life was all pathos, but there is a story called Cipher in the Snow that makes me think of how he was treated by the press. The story is about a boy who is essentially written off by everyone around him and how it affects him.
Here's a link to the text of the story:

Here's a some clips from the story that someone cobbled together to make it reminiscent of a murder mystery:

Another story that, to me, resonates on a lot of levels with everything that's happened is Kafka's “A Hunger Artist”
The story might appeal to those with an interest the Barnum-esque. It's about a man who fasts as entertainment/art for people. A lot of analysis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A…..ger_Artist) has been done of the story and it's quite interesting to read.
Here's the text of the story:
http://records.viu.ca/~johnsto…..artist.htm
And here's an excerpt I find interesting:
“People became accustomed to thinking it strange that in these times they would want to pay attention to a hunger artist, and with this habitual awareness the judgment on him was pronounced. He might fast as well as he could—and he did—but nothing could save him any more. People went straight past him. Try to explain the art of fasting to anyone! If someone doesn’t feel it, then he cannot be made to understand it. The beautiful signs became dirty and illegible. People tore them down, and no one thought of replacing them. The small table with the number of days the fasting had lasted, which early on had been carefully renewed every day, remained unchanged for a long time, for after the first weeks the staff grew tired of even this small task. And so the hunger artist kept fasting on and on, as he once had dreamed about in earlier times, and he had no difficulty at all managing to achieve what he had predicted back then, but no one was counting the days—no one, not even the hunger artist himself, knew how great his achievement was by this point, and his heart grew heavy. And when once in a while a person strolling past stood there making fun of the old number and talking of a swindle, that was in a sense the stupidest lie which indifference and innate maliciousness could invent, for the hunger artist was not being deceptive—he was working honestly—but the world was cheating him of his reward.
Many days went by once more, and this, too, came to an end. Finally the cage caught the attention of a supervisor, and he asked the attendant why they had left this perfectly useful cage standing here unused with rotting straw inside. Nobody knew, until one man, with the help of the table with the number on it, remembered the hunger artist. They pushed the straw around with poles and found the hunger artist in there. “Are you still fasting?” the supervisor asked. “When are you finally going to stop?” “Forgive me everything,” whispered the hunger artist. Only the supervisor, who was pressing his ear up against the cage, understood him. “Certainly,” said the supervisor, tapping his forehead with his finger in order to indicate to the staff the state the hunger artist was in, “we forgive you.” “I always wanted you to admire my fasting,” said the hunger artist. “But we do admire it,” said the supervisor obligingly. “But you shouldn’t admire it,” said the hunger artist. “Well then, we don’t admire it,” said the supervisor, “but why shouldn’t we admire it?” “Because I had to fast. I can’t do anything else,” said the hunger artist. “Just look at you,” said the supervisor, “why can’t you do anything else?” “Because,” said the hunger artist, lifting his head a little and, with his lips pursed as if for a kiss, speaking right into the supervisor’s ear so that he wouldn’t miss anything, “because I couldn’t find a food which tasted good to me. If had found that, believe me, I would not have made a spectacle of myself and would have eaten to my heart’s content, like you and everyone else.” Those were his last words, but in his failing eyes there was still the firm, if no longer proud, conviction that he was continuing to fast.”

Now for some music. Whether true or not, the drug allegations around MJ seem to go with a David Bowie song, Ashes to Ashes, about the character Major Tom from the earlier song Space Oddity.
video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..MThz7eQ6K0
Lyrics:
Ashes To Ashes lyrics
Do you remember a guy that's been
In such an early song
I've heard a rumour from Ground Control
Oh no, don't say it's true
They got a message from the Action Man
"I'm happy, hope you're happy too
I've loved all I've needed to love
Sordid details following"
The shrieking of nothing is killing
Just pictures of Jap girls in synthesis and I
Ain't got no money and I ain't got no hair
But I'm hoping to kick but the planet it's glowing
CHORUS
Ashes to ashes, funk to funky
We know Major Tom's a junkie
Strung out in heaven's high
Hitting an all-time low
Time and again I tell myself
I'll stay clean tonight
But the little green wheels are following me
Oh no, not again
I'm stuck with a valuable friend
"I'm happy, hope you're happy too"
One flash of light but no smoking pistol
I never done good things
I never done bad things
I never did anything out of the blue, woh-o-oh
Want an axe to break the ice
Wanna come down right now
CHORUS
REPEAT
My mother said to get things done
You'd better not mess with Major Tom

Another song. I actually mentioned it in another thread. I practically think it could serve as a theme song for this site since people don't want to believe MJ is dead. (I don't know myself)
Peter Gabriel Solsbury Hill
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..ndUuKHBZIU
Solsbury hill
Climbing up on solsbury hill I could see the city light Wind was blowing, time stood still Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe Came in close, I heard a voice Standing stretching every nerve I had to listen had no choice
I did not believe the information Just had to trust imagination My heart was going boom boom, boom Son, he said, grab your things, Ive come to take you home.
To keeping silence I resigned My friends would think I was a nut Turning water into wine Open doors would soon be shut
So I went from day to day Tho my life was in a rut till I thought of what Id say Which connection I should cut
I was feeling part of the scenery I walked right out of the machinery My heart was going boom boom boom Hey, he said, grab your things, Ive come to take you home. Yeah back home
When illusion spin her net Im never where I want to be And liberty she pirouette When I think that I am free
Watched by empty silhouettes Who close their eyes, but still can see No one taught them etiquette I will show another me
Today I dont need a replacement Ill tell them what the smile on my face meant My heart was going boom boom boom Hey, I said, you can keep my things, theyve come to take me home.

That is Ironically funny ….. and “Solsbury Hill” and “Ashes to Ashes” are good songs of Michael in metaphorically speaking of course.

Okay I think I've put out enough stuff for people to chew on. There are actually other stories I think of, too, and maybe I'll put more later if I'm motivated.
I hope you find this worthwhile.

Yeah I found it ironic, too. I agree these things are to be looked at metaphorically and to draw parallels to parts of his life or even just perceptions about his life, rather than to define him.

Having played a lot of Sega games in my day, I was amused to find out that long ago people have connected MJ's Stranger in Moscow with a tune from Sonic 3 that either MJ or someone who worked with hiim had created
