Do we have a “Jehovas Witness” here, who could tell me – in telegram style – what the Jehovans think of death, and how they mourne (if at all), and how they feel about their “passed ones”, and maybe how they bury their passed one (ceremony, speeches, etc.)?

I'm just curious and don't know much about the dayly life or believe of a Jehovas Wittness. (I don't know any and don't want to wait until they knock on my door again)

THX!

Well Im not a jehovas witness but my mother in law is and other jehova's witness come and teach my parents weekly.

To the best of my understanding they believe death should be celebrated and life should be mourned for it means another soul

has been born into the world of sin. They also believe hell is when they are throwing dirt unto your casket and one day the ritous shall rise and live on a peaceful earth .. I think correct me if im wrong ppl?

So then the death is good for them? They are happy when a relative dies? They don´t mourn when a familymember dies? Then the memorial was right as it was?

All I know through having an excommunicated Jehovah as a friend is that the actual funeral services lasts no more than 30 minutes or so and that most of the service is dedicated to basically advertising the Jehovah faith.  The deceased is basically spoken about briefly and then people are encouraged to continue the Jehovah faith.  The funeral service is apparently somewhat of a happy occasion with much smiling !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Death

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that death is a state of non-existence with no consciousness. They do not believe in any Hell of fiery torment. Hades and Sheol are understood to refer to the condition of death, termed the common grave.[138][139][140] They consider the body and the soul to be the same living being that expires.[141] Their hope for life after death involves being resurrected by God, either with a new body on earth after Armageddon, or to heaven for the limited number of 144,000.

For there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.

Although I am not a practicing Jehovah's Witness, I was raised as one and most of my family still are.  In regard to the question of how JW's mourn and bury their dead, I can tell you that I have never attended a funeral service anywhere but the funeral home w/ a subsequent graveside service at the cemetery (unless the person was being cremated).  In an instance where there is a cremation w/o viewing of the body, there will be a memorial service at the Kingdom Hall to commemorate the persons life and comfort the family, friends and other loved ones of the deceased.  Following that, there is often lunch/dinner at someone's house or a restaurant.  JW's customs aren't any different than any other Christian faith.

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that when someone dies, they simply go to sleep and are no longer consciously aware of anything.  They do not believe in a fiery hell, but rather that everyone returns to dust until they are resurrected.  They believe that everyone who accepts Jehovah God as the one and true God will enjoy eternal life on earth.  So, yes, when someone dies they have a strong faith that they will see that person again.  I'd like to say, though, that none of that dimishes the grief of losing a family member or friend.  My mom lost her brother in a car accident when he was only 24 years old.  The death of that person changed the course of our family's history in so many ways.  Even though my grandparents and my mom, her sister and all of our family, really, that are JW's (all of this happened about 20 years before I was born) believe they will see my Uncle again, the grief to this day is still palpable when you talk to my mom about it.  My grandmother had a nervous breakdown because she simply couldn't deal.  So, I guess what I'm saying is that strong faith of anything does not erradicate grief.  Grief is, well, grief.  Period.  All the faith in the world can't eliviate the loss of a person.

I do not know if Michael Jackson is alive.  What I do know is that Memorial service was a fake, a fraud to the nth degree..IMO, nothing rang true but that had more to do w/ what is actually going on with this whole story than w/ Katherine's/Rebbie's religious beliefs.

Thx, friends, guess I have to dig into that a little deeper (after I read the Bible, the Koran, The Mormon Bible, the Bhagavad Gitah, seems I  need to read the “Watchtower” now…..)

Thx Antigone – now I know where those ominous “144.000″ stems from – this number has haunted me quite some time……

thx jpresley, I know that JW do know the Christian Bible word by word by heart – however, learning something by heart doesn't mean you understand the content. And if it is a believe based on Christianity, why don't they celebrate Chist-mas or birthdays. (At least the Jackson's didn't/don't.) The ony other thing I know is that they do not donate blood, nor to they let anybody give them donated blood/blood from another person….

I want to understand more about this believe in order to understand the Jackson Family.

And also, if you were raised as a JW, would you take drugs (of any kind)? In high dosages? Or would that “upset your believe”, or be no-go?

They are Christain in that they believe Christ was given as a sacrifice for the human race and that he is God's son.  They do not celebrate Christmas because of its pagan origins, see attached link http://www.christmas-time.com/…..-hist.html.  As far as birthdays go, Christians are commanded to observe Jesus' death, but there is nothing in the Scriptures indicating that the date of anyone's b-day should be celebrated.

I don't think any religion advocates the abuse of any substance, but are Witnesses precluded from taking medicine?  No, not at all.  And they also do anything medically possible to save/prolong life.  The sole exception to that is accepting a blood transfusion, but there are many, many things that can be done in place of a drug transfusion that the Witnesses will do.  There is an abundance of information regarding this topic on the internet if you're interested in learning more.  We're here to try and figure out what happened to Michael  – lets not get side tracked!

I'm don't know about JW but I know something about moral conservativism and I could imagine that death is bittersweet.  Because obivously you're still here and you miss the person, but if they had faith it's better to be with God or at least away from the sinful world.  Especially if you suffered in the world.

As for the Christmas thing somebody mentioned.  Yes the pagan thing is a factor, but also I'm sure that if they are so dedicated to God that they probably think you should have Christ in your heart every day, not just once a year.

On birthdays you have a cake with candles and I don't know about JW's but I know some conservative ppl who have a problem with the candle thing and view it as pagan-ish.
