These are my other threads today from looking at the Death Bed Photo from the News of the World:

Ok so heres another one!
The porcelain doll has been bothering me. Why is it there? But yet again there is a link with PT Barnum. See the next link.
http://www.nytimes.com/2000/05…..menon.html
This talks about a character who Barnum promoted called Jenny Lind the Swedish Nightingale. Jenny Lind was one of Barnum's most successful promotions. To build anticipation of her concerts he held advance ticket auctions in each of her concert cities. To further aid promotion Barnum allowed all sorts of promotional materials to be produced.
Paragrahs 11 and 12
Concert posters, vignettes, portraits, everything from sheet music to objects representing the industrialization of Jenny Lind are here. ''There were no rights or restrictions in using Jenny Lind's name or image, so manufacturers and shop owners freely used her success as a tool to sell products,'' Ms. Maher said. ''She did endorse a riding hat, shown on a billboard.''
'Other objects with her iconography include a dressing table mirror, a bronze bell, books, girandoles, bonnets, tobacco boxes, figures, stoves, paper and porcelain dolls and a three-foot marble bust of her image, which Barnum commissioned for his home and bequeathed to the Barnum Museum.'
Now if you look at this link
http://www.members.shaw.ca/tim…..y_lind.htm
This shows one of the porcelain Jenny Lind Porcelain Dolls which appear to be a very well known collectable. Is this the doll on his bed?
Strange Huh?

PT Barnum stated before he died that “the media had nothing good to say about anyone until after they were dead” …. does Michael want to find out what we all really think of him.
Barnum also said that nothing made him happier than seeing the smile on a child's face and that was no better sound than that of childrens laughter.
So many comparisons between the two.
Nothing unusual or new here just an observation.

More interesting note I found in Wikipedia on Jenny Lend – “She was unpretentious, shy, and devout, and possessed a crystal-clear soprano voice projected with a wistful quality which audiences found touching”….. sounds like Michael strangly enough.
“'The public' is a very strange animal, and although a good knowledge of human nature will generally lead a caterer of amusement to hit the people right, they are fickle and ofttimes perverse” – P.T. Barnum.
“I have no desire to be considered much of a philanthropist…if by improving and beautifying our city [Bridgeport, CT], and adding to the pleasure and prosperity of my neighbors, I can do so at a profit, the incentive to 'good works' will be twice as strong as if it were otherwise.” – P.T. Barnum. – Michael loves helping children and many other charities as well.
Hope this helps a bit ….

I don't know but I would suggest that anything which comes from The News of the World is crap and lies, maybe there was a procelain doll there who knows, but the connection thing with Barnum maybe because the NOTW have picked up on this site and seen the Barnum theory and thought they would steal a bit to sell their papers, having not ever been their idea, youi know what journalsits are, never original just sheep (sorry didn't mean to insult sheep) who knows………

I thought Jenny Lind was a brand of baby cribs…

Before you post, ask yourself – WWMJD?
In our darkest hour,
in my deepest despair –
Will you still care?
Will you be there?
In my trials,
and my tribulations?
Through our doubts
and frustrations? |

MJ was much like that porcelain doll…beatiful yet fragile, porcelain white skin, black hair, red lips…red and black clothing…used by the concert promoters….
perhaps that “fragile” person “died” with MJ.. bringing back a stronger person.

It is. The line was named after P.T. Barnum's Jenny Lind and still sells cribs today.
Sunnyscrapper, this is an interesting thought you bring up about the doll. Hmm.

I never knew that. I wonder why they named a line of cribs after her….surely there's a reason.

There were a bunch of day-to-day products named after her, the marketing around the act was tremendous (ala P.T.Barnum) with an entire merchandise line named for the singer. The line of cribs is the only one that still survives today.

I doubt that they would even take the time to do research on P Barnum…that'd be too smart…and I doubt that they are! Also, do you think that people who buy this kind of paper would understand or even give credit to the Barnum theory? If these were indeed real connections or “clues”, then we know who'd they be coming from…

More information on Jenny Lind in relation to Barnum:
A much-cited experience of Barnum as a legitimate impresario was his engagement of Jenny Lind, the “Swedish Nightingale”, to sing in America at $1,000 a night for 150 nights, all expenses paid by the entrepreneur in advance – an unprecedented offer. “Jenny Lind mania” was sweeping Europe and she was a favorite of Queen Victoria. She was unpretentious, shy, and devout, and possessed a crystal-clear soprano voice projected with a wistful quality which audiences found touching. The offer was accepted in part to free her from opera performances which she disliked and to endow a music school for poor children. The risk for Barnum was huge. Besides never having heard her or knowing whether Americans would take to her, he had to assume all the financial risk. He borrowed heavily on his mansion and his museum. With bravado, he drummed up publicity but conceded, “'The public' is a very strange animal, and although a good knowledge of human nature will generally lead a caterer of amusement to hit the people right, they are fickle and ofttimes perverse.” [7]
As a result of months of Barnum's preparations, close to 40,000 greeted her at the docks and another 20,000 at her hotel, the press was in attendance, and “Jenny Lind items” were available. The tour began with the concert at Castle Garden on September 11, 1850 and turned out a success, recouping Barnum four times his investment. Washington Irving proclaimed “She is enough to counterbalance, of herself, all the evil that the world is threatened with by the great convention of women. So God save Jenny Lind!”[8]
Interesting facts and coincidences here. Thanks again sunny for the observation. Now, is ther any way for us to know for sure if that is a Jenny Lind doll on the bed?
