In the 911 tape, the caller says “they are pumping him but he's not responding to anything”.
Now, this has never been mentioned, but I have never EVER heard anyone refer to CPR as “PUMPING”.
Not to mention but if MJ has a weak pulse as Dr. Murray attested, CPR should not be done at all. Mouth to mouth, yes, for someone not breathing, but CPR, no. It could damage the heart. You learn that in grade school.
Secondly, if you review the 911 tape, the 911 dispatcher is the first to say MJ is unconscious. It's almost as if he is leading the caller in the script, reminding him what to say. The caller says he is not breathing, then the 911 dispatcher responds by saying “ok he is unconscious and he is not breathing”, to which the caller responds, “no he is not conscious sir”.
Now, unconscious and not breathing do not go hand in hand with a medical emergency. The 911 dispatcher at this time does not know if the person has a pulse or not so assuming the patient is not conscious would be quite cavalier of a 911 operator. They are supposed to gather information, not assume.

I thought “pumping” was an odd choice of words as well. It's not something that I would associate with CPR.
Good call on the unconscious thing. I never really noticed that before but it is like he is leading him into it. I'm not sure about the authanticity of the call. I saw an interview somewhere with a 911 dispatch officer who said that the call was “100% real” but it doesn't seem genuine.

I thought “pumping” was a weird choice of words, too.
Actually, the whole 911 call is weird.

Well not breathing DOES mean unconscious so it's a little redundant for him to say it. YOu can be unconscious but still be breathing (like when someone faints), but you can't be not breathing and be conscious. So by saying he's not breathing OBVIOUSLY he's saying he's unconscious.
The problem is that the 911 operator doesn't confirm whether or not the guy has a pulse but starts talking about CPR. Unconscious and not breathing doesn't mean no pulse. But he just skips RIGHT OVER fidning out about the pulse to talk about CPR. You HAVE to ask about a pulse in order to know if you need to advise mouth-to-mouth or CPR.

If the caller had been to CPR classes, wouldn't he know MJ should be on the floor and not the bed? He doesn't seem informed enough to know that jargon.

I was just commenting that “pumping” is a normal word to use for chest compressions.

You are completely right.
That 911 call, is totally wrong. I mean my 3 year old daugther could have done a better job, thats all im saying.
And if you listen to that 911 call once again, after the dispatcher Is saying ” Lets get him to the floor” WTF. Why was he not on the floor in the 1st place.
ANYONE knows that you have to do CPR on a hard surface OMG LOL
Anyway what i was wondering after the dispatcher said that thing with getting him on the floor, SUDDENLY out of nowhere a voice is saying “Just a minute now”. again WTF.
Who said that? It was NOT the caller, and it was NOT the dispatcher. So I would like to know who that person is. It just got to me, i found that weird.
AND why the hell would they wait another minute, like the havent been waiting long enough.
And that dispatcher how stupid was he I mean he asks:
Dispatcher ” Is he breathing?”
Caller “no sir”
Disptacher “Is he conscious”
Caller “no sir”
Dispatcher ” So hes not breathing, and hes not conscious?” WTF what kind of stupid question is that, he just answered you dammit
There is NOWAY in a million years i would be that calm, if i had been the caller, and i have worked for Michael (or anyone) I would have been screeming tottaly crazy on the phone, i would have been hysterical, but all this caller did was to say “please sir” and “okey” a couple of times.
OH MY GOD. Who the hell hired those people?
I am almost to think that the 911 call is completely fake.

Yes, but it's a normal word used by people who know the basics of CPR. And clearly this guy didn't.

Hmmmm, nobody in the media is questioning MJ's death and everything around it, so why should that dispatch officer say that?

I know it is quite unusual. It was part of a larger interview where they were talking about how long it had taken to get to Michael's house etc so it wasn't specifically an interview on the call but it did come up and I thought it was odd to mention that it was indeed real.

Who the f**k decides to say the call was REAL? If it WAS real, they didn't have to say it to make sure it was confirmed. They are trying too hard!

The 911 call sounds too fake to me … someone was talking in the background – 2 people I think and the Bodyguard was too calm and collected for someone calling for someone else having a cardiac arrest …. and CPR on a Bed ??? hello , the person is supposed to be on the flat floor ….

Dr. Murray could have told the person that made the call to tell them that. He's a cardiologist so that could explain the use of that word, just like you said.

I've just listened to the 911 call again, is it me or did the 911 operator sound kind of bored and like he couldn't care less I thought these operators should be more professional and more alert and also when the 911 operator asks the caller did the doctor see what happened and the caller asks the doctor I think the doctor sounded like a woman.
