Dear Michael,
For the whole of your life, you belonged to the world.
A comet pitched from the heavens, always a bit uncomfortable in your earthly shoes.
You were not only an example of flawless showmanship, but of flawless generosity.
While creating otherworldly distractions for your public, you gave selflessly to those less fortunate than yourself.
You were a target of poisoned minds and poisoned pens that drew monstrous cariacatures of you and sold them for 30 pieces of silver.
The world is different because you gave the best that you were given.
So now…
If you are here, I say to you sir, take your time.
Take the time to enjoy a world that demands nothing from you.
Take the time to sleep under a sky free of circling helicopters and the acid rain of betrayal.
Take the time to love and be loved without interruption, apology, or explanation.
Take the time to receive from the Universe a measure of what you've given.
Take the time to be who you need to be, even if we never see or hear from you again on this side of the river.
If you are gone, I say to you sir, enjoy your time.
Enjoy the time with your Creator, immersed in a peace not found anywhere on earth.
Enjoy an eternity of health, rest, and boundless beauty.
We love you, we miss you, we appreciate you.
