Unfortunally, parents that mentally and physically abuse their children

don't think that they did anything wrong….

they are repeating the patterns that they learned from their parents.

Fortunally, MJ had the chance to break the pattern of abuse with his kids, and that is important!

I don't think that it is a hint… just interesting and sad.

He also said in that video that he never saw his son's body. Not in the hospital or afterward. Not even at the private family service when other's supposedly viewed the body. Joe said he never saw MJs body.

I agree, parents who have abused their kids don't think they've done anything wrong. My mother was the abusive one in my family, and after the divorce it only got worse. Every time I tried to talk to her about what had happened in the past, she denied it, justified it, minimized it, and/or didn't even believe me. The worst part was the emotional abuse all of those years up until last year when I finally decided that the only thing I could do, after years of trying and hoping for things to get better, was to cut off all contact with my mother and her side of the family (they were like that too) for my own sanity as well as to stop the cycle for any children I'll have in the next couple of years.

When the parent refuses to accept any responsibility, calls you a liar, denies everything, justifies it, etc….it definitely makes you feel lonely, and like you're either crazy, or a bad person somehow…the way they go about being able to turn it all back on you. It's a deep hurt that the victim lives with for life, and they may try to make things better, earn the love, etc. of the parent…but it's useless. The victim doesn't understand why their parent, who's supposed to love and protect them, treats them so badly, and all that they want is the unconditional love, acceptance, to be believed, etc. There's always a constant tension, pressure, etc. about wanting things to get better, but the sooner the victim learns that they can't change the person or control them (the abuser has to want to change and take responsibility for what they did), and they move on or come to terms with everything, the better. The victim can only pick up the best they can and move on, and make something of their own life while putting an end to the cycle. It hurts, and it feels like a hole in the person's soul and heart, but the victim has to try to stay positive and look for good, fulfilling things in life and realize they're not bad or defected. One thing that a parent would be doing pretty much, if they decided to change, is admitting that they were a bad parent for the duration of the time they abused their child…that's one VERY sensitive issue, and most parents won't admit to it. That's the case I see with Joe and Michael, in my opinion. Although, I thought I heard Michael had forgiven his father and that they had mended their past. I'm not sure how true that was, or to what extent, but that's between those two.
