Michael Jackson's son Blanket asks godfather heart-breaking question 'Where's my Daddy gone? On holiday?'

It was the moment that brought yet more tears to Mark Lester’s eyes, after he had just said farewell to his friend Michael Jackson.

The King of Pop’s bewildered son Blanket looked at him and declared innocently that he thought his dad was simply away on holiday.

Mark, godfather to Jacko’s three children, revealed he had the emotional conversation with the confused seven-year-old after the moving memorial service to the King of Pop in Los Angeles.

The 50-year-old former child actor told Hello! magazine: “It is obvious to me that Blanket is still unsure about what exactly happened to his father.

“He said, ‘Where’s Daddy gone? On holiday?’ It was a rhetorical question and it broke my heart.

“Prince was taciturn, unusual for him, but we still had a hug.

“Paris gave me a tight hug and we just held each other for a while. We were both welling up. I told her that her dad would always lie in her heart and be remembered by at least half of the world.

Paris replied: ‘I’m just glad he is at peace’.”

Mark spoke as it emerged police are unlikely to bring murder charges against any of the doctors who treated 50-year-old Jacko in his final days.

The singer had made plans with Mark to spend this Christmas together and Paris, 11, told him she already had presents for his children.

The Oliver star added: “She was disappointed my daughters weren’t able to come to the memorial. She asked me, ‘Can we come and stay with you at Christmas and I can bring the presents?’

“I was very touched and hope that can still be arranged.

“It’s difficult to say until the custody arrangements have been finalised.” Mark is also planning to attend a second funeral, when Michael’s body is finally laid to rest.

He said: “Paris asked if I would bring my children, too.

“I know it would be a comfort to her as well as Prince and Blanket but I’m waiting on confirmation of a time and place.”

Mark said a possible custody row over the singer’s three godchildren would prove “disastrous” for the siblings, especially if they were split up.

He insisted Paris and Prince, 12, have no relationship with their biological mother Debbie Rowe.

And he said he could not bear the idea of the pair being separated from Blanket, whose real mum is not known.

He told Hello!: “The children don’t know her [Debbie Rowe] and haven’t seen her for years.

“They are exceptionally well taken care of in a loving environment.

“The possibility that the three children might be split up – Blanket, of course, is by another mother – is unthinkable and I believe it would be disastrous for all of them.”

He also insisted Paris’s heartbreaking tribute to her father at the end of the memorial service at the Staples Center was a spur-of-the-moment decision by the little girl.

The sobbing 11-year-old lunged for the microphone and told the millions watching: “Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. And I just wanted to say I love him so much.”

Mark explained: “It wasn’t planned, it was spontaneous and a decision taken by Paris.

“I sat directly behind the children at the service and know Paris decided to get up on the stage there and then, because she wanted to do something, by herself, for her dad.”

Asked about Jacko’s sudden death, Mark replied: “Like his family, I would like to see those responsible brought to justice.”

Police have discussed if they can bring other charges against doctors who gave drugs to Jacko.

A source said: “It’s going to be hard to prove a murder.

“Manslaughter could be proven if a doctor knowingly gave him more

drugs than he should have that played a role in his death.”

Oh gosh, that's real tears. How come it went unnoticed and there were even so many crude comments regarding the family not shedding any tears?

“Yoohoo!!”

I said so in one of my post that Blanket would be too young to understand.. My nephew was his age when his Dad passed away and he was sad when he was told of the bad news. He was having fun with his cousins the next minute. I still stand by what I say that Paris isn't in on the plan 'IF' supposing Michael is still alive… She has not been exposed publicly while Daddy was around. She would be shy and not know how to react thrown suddenly in front on a stage for her Dad's memorial expecially to fake a cry (assuming that Michael is alive). Anyway Michael would never think of doing it to his precious lil gems..

So now  u gonna read this  article and all of u gonna say omg  thats it  MJ is dead……… well i don't think so!It doesn't say anything

I think Blanket is too young to undestand what was going on there even if they knew that Michael was not dead. I think he was missing his Dad and scared to stand in front of that big audience. I think his tears don't prove that is MJ dead or not.

Look on the positive side from this article- maybe the family or michael told Blanket he was going 'on holiday' for a while, hence the whole death hoax thing.

I agree with Finnlady – at 7 years old, in front on the public, watching some people around crying, and not having his father around, that's what made him feel incomfortable

Seriously, I just can't believe that any parent would do that to their children…

set them up to cover for this hoax….

no good parent would…

no way, it breaks my heart…

the mother in me wants to scoop those kids up and get them out of there…..

he has passed and really this should be some proof….. sadly.

I know that many of you are too young to have kids….

but i can guarantee you would not to that to your precious ones, so you can make a comeback or escape…

hurting your kids is not worth it……

or it is a Very Selfish thing to do…

and if MJ loved kids and had a childlike heart…

he WOULD NOT do that!!!!!

What if he told his kids he was just going on holiday though…and he would be back.  Maybe they look upset because they miss him, not cos they think he is dead.

Yes, I totally agree with this.  Show me a parent who's child hasn't shed a tear when dropped off even with family when the parent has to go out of town or overnight. Don't overdramatise the situation.  To say Michael did this without consideration for Blanket just wouldn't be right.  He knew that Blanket would be OK with his loving family and it would all be for the bigger good, a much higher purpose.

Blanket is so adorable, he sure resembles Michael.

It hasn't waivered how I feel about things one bit, I still believe Michael is alive, what I think is even more extraordinary since the hoax is that people from around the world are coming together – people who would never have had any contact if it wasn't for these events. Therein lies a meaning, we need to hold onto that and trust, look, believe with our hearts.  His fans that understood him, knew him, felt what he was going through. Keep the faith.

I agree with you. He is not hurting his kids, when they know that he is fine and not death. Just Blanket does not understand the memorial and why his Dad is not there with him.

Why did not his other children cry at all? I would be so devastated if my dad died.

I have to agree.

I may sound like a bonehead for saying this, And I don't know too much about the issue regarding graphic work; But what if the tear was photoshopped? Is that possible? Out of all the pictures of the memorial and close ups of the kids, This one just happens to surface now.

Those kids were attached to Michaels hip and when he would leave they would always cry.

I read that in one of the magazines.

Who is to say that they really think that daddy is on holiday? It's a possibility.

Am i invisible because you ignore me? I<3MJ

How do you know that's what Blanket asked? Is it because that's what the interview tells you he asked?
