when I saw john mayer up there (don't get me wrong, he did a great job instrumentally) but it made no sense to me. he told larry king he didn't even know MJ.. but was honored to perform..
who asked these people to perform is what I want to know..?!

No kidding! As if there was some place better for these people to be besides the King of Pop's memorial!
Chris “beater” Brown was there.

Maybe that´s why Liz Taylor said that was a circus. Forgive me Michael, I love you so much!

Hmmm… I always found it strange that Mac and Liz were not there. Same with Diana Ross. However, I never thought about Will I AM or Quincy Jones. It's very odd they chose not to attend as well. I would certaninly think they would also want to show their respect. I also wonder why Akon was not in attendence. Michael seemed to really enjoy him. Why on Earth did the family keep all those tickets if they were not going to actually invite people. Some of the cast of “Good Times” was there I believe. They were close to Janet though and not neccessarily to Michael. It doesnt make sense at all.

Did she say it was a circus before or after the memorial? because if it was before…how did she know who was going to perform at the memorial? ok ok maybe the family told her, but anyways…i wouldnt say something about an event if I dont know what is going to happen there, especially about my best friends' memorial, gee

I found that very strange as well. In fact I think that is when my feelings of this being a hoax where corroborated! When I saw the lack of and didn't hear of many close friends of Michael attending the memorial. I felt something was definitely brewing! If my best friend died I would want to be there to share with the family and to pay my respects. Whether I get along or don't get along with their family that shouldn't matter! I would still be there. And Corey Feldman seem to have not known he was attending a memorial…he probably thought he was going to a “Dress as your favorite icon” day event. The things he does to get noticed!
@ Give.In.To.Me Chris “beater” brown…lol

She called it 'whoopla' and it was before the memorial.
And also: there were many people on the 'private memorial' in the morning.
Why didn'T she show up there?

Rofl, that made me laugh
I agree, I would also have possibly expected David Gest to be there esp if they've been friends for 40-odd years; Liza, maybe Mohamed Al-Fayed for the Diana/Harrods connection; heck I wouldn't put it past Mr Uri 'Sponger' Gellar there too, to tell us about how close he and Michael are (glad he wasn't though because I cannot stand him). Were they there? I didn't see them but if someone else did.
I'd have definitely expected Liz, Diana Ross and Mac to be there – the fact that they weren't and the pathetic excuses some people gave before and after about their non-attendance really got me. If you are as close to the person as we know you to be then why wouldn't you go. Whoopla? Circus? Never going to another funeral ever again because you can't take it? Who's to bet that Quincy Jones does go to someone else's funeral again in the future? I go to people's funerals that I barely even know - that makes me sounds like I gatecrash funerals, I don't lol – let alone people who I am so close too – it's practically obligatory to attend.
I even saw Wesley Snipes there – I don't know if he and Michael were long-time friends, I know he was in the 'Bad' video but would he necessarily attend? What about Brett Ratner - they were good friends too, but I didn't see him there.
It was like they deliberately took out every single genuine friend of MJ and invited a bunch of flakes who either have never met him or barely knew him.

was it quincy jones who “couldnt attend because he had a movie premiere to attend in europe”? Greatness, right there.
Why was that congress-woman there? I lost the plot when she started handing out trophies….
As for MJ's close personal friends (like Liz, Mac, Brett Ratner, Chris Tucker etc…) – i do not in any way buy their lame ass excuses. When someone you love and adore (like they've claimed) dies, you get your ass off of the couch and attend the frickin ceremony. There's no excuse not to attend (expect for you own death, of course ).
How did the jackson family/AEG manage to get all those “celebrities” gathered, set up the stage, work out the details, do the ticket lottery thingie etc in a matter of days? Makes you wonder if things were already planned?

Quincy Jones said that he couldn't handle going to another funeral after James Brown's one which is why he didn't go to Michael's – which wasn't a funeral but a memorial.
Rofl, the congresswoman lost me too, I still can't remember her name for the life of me and I thought she was such a waste of time.
How did they manage to get the whole memorial planned in what – 12 days? The amount of planning that needed to get it all sorted – this is the same AEG which said they had to postpone 4 O2 concert dates because their rehearsal planning took them right up until the day before the first O2 date – and they managed to plan and execute a memorial watched by millions, billions even in 12 days?
