Please don't get mad at me for this thread, it's meant more for fun and to think about it – a little!
The most famous death hoax ever staged was: JESUS
(Although he couldn't wait and ressurected already after 3 days, not 7 days, as we are told – no discipline)
I was just thinking, if Jesus was living today, what they (the media) would have made of it?
Surely there would have been tons of weird stories about him also, like:
- he wasn't the biological child of Mary, because it was a “virgin” birth (haha, now that sounds familiar)
- he wasn't married at the age of 30, but roamed the streets with 12 men – surely a gay gang (that sounds familiar, too)
- he definitely was on drugs, because he claimed he was God's son (this also, sounds very familiar)
- 3 days after his crusifiction his “body was gone” (hahaha, well………)
I guess I better stop now

LOLOLOLOL You rock, that's hilarious! Well MJ always did say he wanted to emulate Jesus. One of my friends thought MJ was a child molester (until I explained to her why that was absolutely ludicrous), and she was offended for that reason that I thought MJ had a lot in common with Jesus.
Then I told her that I thought if Jesus were alive today, living the lifestyle he was living, he absolutely would have been accused of child molestation in our society. He liked kids too much and he wasn't married.

I see about a thousand parallels between Jesus and Michael Jackson in all honesty. I am an aitheist, btw, so I think of Jesus as the original philatropist and person who devoted his life to volunteerism and making the world a better place. He was very charasmitic and inspired people to follow him, people became fascinated with him, for good or otherwise. Jesus had a gift to be able to spread his message of peace and love and gather support from the masses.
Jesus eventually attracted the wrong kind of attention and there was a systematic attempt by government and the merchant men to eradicate him. Jesus allowed them to crucify him to prove a point. Legend has it Jesus came back from the dead and the first people to see him and believe were women who at the time uncredible sources of info. His followers followed him to the death and revered him in his ressurection. Jesus became more powerful because of the crucifixion.
Michael Jackson reflects a common Jesus and crucifixion image and theme in his music and videos, especially in the more recent years.
Is it posible Michael Jackson promoted these parallels on purpose? Posibly.

I agree on Miss Dahmer.
MJ “died”…and some days later the media claimed that 12 people -only this number was mentioned-
commited suicide because of MJ. -BTW: I don`t buy that story-
But are these 12 people supposed as his disciples?
Maybe another coincidence…

This is a very good point, I really agree with you. There are lots of similarities between MJ and Jesus and if you just watch MJ's interviews you will see this, I noticed this a long time ago.

Hey I agree! i'm not sure if it was a conscious choice on MJ's part or if it was subconscious. I know he wanted to be like Jesus, and in many ways he succeeded for good or ill. I don't consider myself an atheist, more someone with just individual spiritual beliefs, but I don't believe in Jesus, and so for me, MJ is more important than Jesus because MJ was real. MJ was also more recent and during my lifetime. There are no writings of Jesus left behind, but MJ left a book of poetry, an autobiography, and all his music and music videos and interviews and clips etc. That's a lot of material directly from the man himself.
This isn't meant to be offensive to Jesus believers, but really not EVERYBODY believes in Jesus and it's really important that people respect that and understand the world isn't going to just avoid the topic of Jesus unless it supports their belief system. That's asinine. Also, while I respect that MJ believed in Jesus and it obviously helped him to be a better person, that doesn't mean that *I* have to believe in Jesus, or that I can't see MJ as more influential and important in my own spiritual views.

I caught the 12 people died, and immediately thought of the disciples too. Although they didn't all die in response to Jesus' death, it is interesting that 12 strong followers of MJ supposedly killed themselves. And that this exact number was reported.

I know Michael had simliarties to Jesus , but that doesn't play with others comparing him to MJ … but He said himself – “I want to emulate Jesus , not be him”…… so I see what you mean … but I wouldn't post on here.

LOLOLOL! That's hilarious. That thought has crossed my mind before. Even though I don't believe in Jesus, per se… I did find it interesting as a thought experiment. The belief I have is that Jesus didn't exist but was a dying and rising godman like in the earlier mystery religions (like Horus and such), and that the Jewish people created their own version of the mysteries. In the mystery religions they had these plays/stories that they taught people. The common people believed they were literally true, but once you were initiated into the mysteries you understood their more symbolic meanings. My personal view on it is that the mysteries for Jesus were lost, and so everyone just believed the first part… that it was literally true. When it hadn't been originally set up that way.
If I was an atheist… I would stop right there. But since I personally DO believe in a spiritual reality and an afterlife etc… my thought process keeps going with this…
BUT, even if Jesus wasn't literally a real physical person, wouldn't all the belief by millions of people all over the world, make it possible for Jesus to exist as a spiritual reality? Or come into being as a spiritual reality? And what if… that energy came into the world in the form of Michael Jackson? I think it's an intriguing and compelling possibility.
It makes me think of that Heroes (American television show for those not in America) storyline where Hiro was so taken with the Japanese warrior from the past, but he actually WAS the Japanese warrior from the past, or at least a part of him.
Anyway, not trying to piss off traditional christians but, really people do have the freedom to form their own religious/spiritual views and interpretations and not everybody thinks the same way about Jesus.

Thank you. I could obviously be wrong, anything spiritual is always heavily open to interpretation and don't like to state anything spiritual as fact, but it's an idea that popped into my head that seemed pretty cool.

I'm not religious at all – at least I don't believe in the bible.
I DO believe in Love.
Actually, there are SO MANY similarities between Michael Jackson and Jesus, that MJ's life is a proof for me, that THE PERSON Jesus lived.
And 2000 years later 'we' made the same mistakes again!
